CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER

Sean Crane

I am currently the Chief Creative Officer at Mintz + Hoke in Avon, CT where I’ve been leading the charge to reinvigorate the creative product and redefine what it means to be Immersively Different. I’m also an award-winning photographer, director and editor, servicing the content needs of many of our clients. Previously, I was at Grey NY, where I spent more than a decade. I was one of former CCO Tor Myhren’s first hires when he surrounded himself with trusted creative leaders that would go on to stage one of the biggest creative turn arounds in the history of the industry. My work for the NFL was among Grey’s first big award winners, helping to spur the agency’s Renaissance. Over the course of my tenure, I worked on practically every account at the agency, overseeing creative on the National Parks, Smuckers, Folgers, and Jif among others. I was also instrumental in a string of new business wins that doubled the size of the agency.

I’ve always felt that it’s not just about the strength of the stories you tell, but how you tell them.  To me, sensibility is everything. It keeps smart from becoming corny, emotional from becoming sappy, cool from becoming pretentious.

I grew up in Cheshire, Connecticut before attending college at the University of Richmond in Virginia. I spent 2002 living in a car — by choice — and traveled to all 50 states writing and taking photos. Out of that experience came the coffee table book American Hydrant, published by Santa Monica Press. I’m also an internationally acclaimed wildlife photographer and have been published widely in all media and honored by the BBC, the Smithsonian and the National Geographic Society. My photography website and daily blog can be found at seancrane.com.
